As the military operation is continuing in Swat, Malakand, Buner and Dir, therefore thousand of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) left their home land with bare hands, war stricken faces and heavy hearts. According to Government about 3.0 million peoples have been displaced, most of the IDPs shifted and residing in district Mardan and Swabi. This will not only increase the burden of IDPs on insufficient resources of these two districts, but also the increase influx may lead to unrest situation if basic necessities are not fulfilled well in time.

First and foremost need is shelter and food in the localities of Mardan and Swabi for the IDPs. As long as shelter is concern, different situation exist for IDPs in Mardan and Swabi. The Government, United Nations and NGOs have established camps for IDPs, Some of IDPs are located in schools and madrassas, some are residing with their relatives in around villages and those who can afford have rented houses.

KLWT have established a proper network for the distribution of food and house hold items especially for the host families which are residing with their relatives and in the schools etc in District Swabi and Mardan (NWFP).

Donations made by the foreign and local donors to KLWT are being utilized exclusively and judiciously for the relief of IDPs in shape of Family Packs (food rations and kitchen utensils), Infant Packs and Children Packs which contained the basic food items.
